Sally 2022
Mount Gambier Pinot Noir
We’ve been purchasing fruit from this 4 acre block since the 2021 vintage. It’s farmed by the owner David Gryn, & he’s doing a great job of it (organic, not certified). The vineyard sits on a north facing slope, made up of deep sand & volcanic ash soils. The fruit from this site always has a beautiful balance of red fruits & savory components. For this wine, we chose our favorite 3 barrels out of 6 to blend in.
Mostly destemmed (about 10% as whole bunch), with 40% of the blend staying on skins for 90 days. Matured in old oak until bottling in January 2023.
